It is reported that Glasgow is the largest city in Scotland and the third largest manufacturing city in the UK. This all cargo flight route connects Chengdu Shuangliu Airport and Glasgow Prestwick Airport, and is a key extension of Air China's regional network layout in Europe, taking a solid step towards expanding its core cargo market in Europe. This point-to-point direct route will provide strong support for the export of cross-border e-commerce, electronic information, high-end equipment manufacturing and other industrial goods, further stimulating the development vitality of the open economy in Southwest China.
Unlike in the past where goods flying to the UK mainly entered through London, the Chengdu Shuangliu direct flight route to Glasgow has been opened, allowing direct access to Scotland and radiating to the northwest region of England. This not only helps to alleviate the freight pressure in the British hinterland, but also provides a convenient "air fast lane" for Scottish specialty products such as salmon and whiskey to enter the Chinese market, which is expected to significantly improve logistics efficiency and reduce overall transportation costs.
Since the beginning of this year, the expansion of international freight routes in Chengdu has resonated with international passenger routes, and has successively opened, resumed, and strengthened multiple international freight routes to Dubai, Prague, East Midland, Amsterdam, Dhaka, and others. In addition to the newly opened direct flight to Glasgow, Chengdu also opened an international cargo route to Katowice, Poland in October, and on November 17th, opened the "Xining Chengdu Bangkok" air to air transfer all cargo route.
The reporter learned from the Municipal Port Logistics Office that as of November 21, there are 82 regular direct international passenger and freight routes flying in Chengdu, with a network connecting five continents around the world. The number of routes is the largest in the central and western regions of China, with 25 regular direct international freight routes.
